This free event celebrates creative Aucklanders and themes of women’s suffrage in Aotearoa.

See spoken word artist Grace Taylor, poet and playwright Courtney Sina Meredith, live artist Julia Croft, poet Rose Northey, and writer Dione Joseph perform on Takapuna’s newest artwork Soapbox.

Be inspired by suffrage and the future of feminism expressed through words, movement and sounds on the shores of Lake Pupuke.

Soapbox is a new work of public art and a beautifully crafted platform that has been designed and built by a collective of artists in collaboration with architecture and design firm Jasmax. The collective behind the artwork – Olivia Collinson, Vanessa Coxhead, Stephanie Darlington, Prue Fea, Jayne Kersten, and Madeleine Racz – were commissioned by Auckland Council to create the work through an expression of interest (EOI) process in 2018.
