Be part of the future of Capital E Nōku te Ao

Capital E is seeking an innovative educator to deliver digital learning programmes for schools. From game design and music making in our digital technology lab, to live broadcast production in our purpose-built tv studio—bring your passion for experiential education and digital technology to deliver inspirational experiences for ākonga from years 4 – 13.

In an exciting period of transformation, you’ll be part of the project team working towards the redevelopment of Te Matapihi Ki Te Ao Nui, the reimagined Central Library in Te Ngākau, Civic Square. You’ll help to shape new experiences for digital learning, as we work towards our relocation to this innovative space in 2025.

Currently this role is based at Capital E on the Wellington waterfront. It offers the opportunity to collaborate across other Experience Wellington sites – City Gallery Wellington, Wellington Museum, and Space Place. This position is permanent, full-time. Evening and weekend work may be required.  

 

Te tūranga | The role

You will:

  • Deliver fast-paced, engaging digital learning sessions in MediaLab/Te Whare Matihiko, and OnTV/Te Whare Whakaata studios to tamariki and rangatahi.
  • Develop innovative ways to support teachers and bring local curriculum to life.
  • Actively contribute to the project team working towards the development of Te Matapihi Ki Te Ao Nui Central Library.
  • Actively support our aims to increase engagement with Māori audiences and integrate Te Ao Māori into our programming

 

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako |The essential skills and experience for the role

You will:

  • Be a strong educator, confident in working with groups of ākonga of all ages.
  • Have sound knowledge of the NZ Digital Technologies / Hangarau Matihiko curriuculum, and The NZ Curriculum/Te Marautanga o Aotearoa curriculum. Knowledge of LEOTC/ELC programming is an advantage.
  • Possess excellent practical technical knowledge and good trouble-shooting skills, and strong networks in the tech and digital industries,
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be a great team player – creative, reliable, proactive, and positive.
