Join our Rekindle whānau! This part time (20 hr pw) fixed term position involves working closely with our Workshop Coordinator and Accounts person, our Rekindle team of talented Craftspeople and Volunteers, our Board and Advisors, community groups, funders, and other stakeholders. The person we are looking for is a natural relationship builder and communicator, has experience balancing multi-faceted values-driven projects, a passion for resourcefulness, and is committed to continuing to develop the way we put Te Tiriti o Waitangi into practice. With multiple programmes on the go, and more in the pipeline, it’s set to be an exciting year.
Background to role
This role began in December 2020 and has been consistently funded by Creative New Zealand through successive project funding since then. Due to the role being tied to funded activities, it is fixed term until September 30, 2023. Renewal of this role is dependent on our success with grant applications. This role also covers part of the period or parental leave of our current Manager, which is until 27 November 2023, with the provision for her to return to the role given 6 week’s notice, if desired.

Contract: 20 hours per week fixed term from 14 November 2022 to 30 September 2023.
Place of work: Our craft workshop at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre, and from home, or mobile when necessary.
Days of work: Hours could be spread across 3-5 days and ordinarily worked as fixed hours, with flexi-time negotiable.

Core responsibilities
• Manages work on Rekindle’s building of cultural competency and as active partners in upholding and expressing te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Manages the public workshop space at Te Matatiki Toi Ora the woodland workshop at the Brandenburg Coppice, Lincoln University
• Works closely with and supports Rekindle Board and advisors to evolve and strengthen the capability of the organisation
• Co-ordinates professional development programme for residents, tutors, and volunteers
• Upholds OSH requirements and incident reporting
• Manages Rekindle’s relationship with the public
• Manages communications and marketing strategy
• Recruits, supports, and advises craftspeople and volunteers in their work
• Manages financials and project budgets, and reports to the Board in liaison with the Accounts person
• Manages strategic relationships with the Board
• Develops and implements policies and procedures in consultation with the Board and Rekindle team
• Applies for and reports on funding grants
• Instigates new projects and development of the organisation with the support of the Board
• Reports regularly to the Board, advisors and funding bodies on artistic and business activities as required
They will also collaborate with and support the Workshop Coordinator to:
• Support and grow the workshop programme and online programming
• Instigate and co-ordinate outreach activities (i.e. activities outside of Rekindle workshop facilities) including our Craft Opportunities programme, Regional activities, Creatives in Schools, partnerships with NGOs, Libraries, Kids Fest, etc.
• Support tutors and volunteer’s day-to-day needs
• Co-ordinate volunteer activity
• Co-ordinate social media and other engagement activities
• Manage workshop cover and on-call issues (i.e. tutor/volunteer sickness etc)
